Loaded Whole30 Sweet Potato Fries Recipe

Loaded Whole30 Sweet Potato Fries

Have you been to ALDI? I only recently started shopping there and it’s changed how I stock my kitchen. Their selection includes many affordable, health-conscious items that made this Loaded Whole30 Sweet Potato Fries recipe easy to assemble. I found all the key ingredients at my local ALDI, which made this meal both practical and budget-friendly.

For the spicy ground beef I used Simply Nature Organic Grass-Fed Ground Beef. To make the Whole30-friendly lime crema I started with a homemade mayo base made with Simply Nature 100% Pure Avocado Oil and Simply Nature Grade A Organic Cage Free Brown Eggs. I finished the dish with roasted sweet potatoes and bright, fresh garnishes—think lime, radish, jalapeño, tomato, onion, avocado and cilantro—for a satisfying, weeknight-ready dinner.

For the Fries

  1. 1.5 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut lengthwise into 1/4-inch wide fries
  2. 2 tablespoons Simply Nature 100% Pure Avocado Oil
  3. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  4. 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

For the Spicy Ground Beef

  1. 1 pound Simply Nature Organic Grass-Fed Beef
  2. 1 tablespoon Simply Nature 100% Pure Avocado Oil
  3. 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  4. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  5. 1 teaspoon chili powder
  6. 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  7. 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  8. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  9. 1 tablespoon hot sauce (use your favorite compliant variety)
  10. 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  11. 1/4 cup beef broth

For the Lime Crema

  1. 1/4 cup Homemade Mayo
  2. 2 tablespoons lime juice (about 1 lime)
  3. 1 garlic clove, minced
  4. 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Optional Toppings

  1. 1 Roma tomato, finely diced
  2. 1/4 medium white onion, finely diced
  3. 1 avocado, cubed
  4. 1/2 jalapeño, thinly sliced
  5. 2 radishes, thinly sliced
  6. 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro leaves, loosely chopped

Directions — For the Fries

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the sweet potato fries on a baking sheet and drizzle with avocado oil, salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly. Spread the fries in a single layer across the two sheets—using two sheets prevents steaming and helps them crisp.
  3. Bake until the edges are crisp and the centers are tender, about 30 minutes, turning once halfway through baking.

Directions — For the Spicy Ground Beef

  1. While the fries roast, heat a skillet over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon avocado oil. Add the ground beef and break it up with the back of a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes.
  2. Season the beef with salt, pepper, chili powder, oregano, cumin and garlic powder as it cooks. Drain any excess fat when the beef is cooked through.
  3. Return the beef to the pan. Stir in hot sauce and tomato paste until well combined, then add the beef broth. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until the broth reduces by about half, roughly 3–4 minutes. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Directions — For the Lime Crema and Assembly

  1. Whisk the homemade mayo, lime juice, minced garlic and salt together in a small bowl until smooth. Taste and adjust lime or salt as needed. Keep chilled until ready to serve.
  2. To assemble, pile roasted sweet potato fries on a serving dish. Top with the spicy ground beef and scatter optional toppings—tomato, onion, avocado, jalapeño, radish and cilantro—over the beef.
  3. Drizzle the lime crema over everything and serve immediately. Enjoy as a main course for dinner or as a hearty shareable appetizer.

Notes and Tips

For crispier fries, make sure they are spread in a single layer with room for air to circulate. If you prefer less heat, reduce the hot sauce or jalapeño slices. These fries are great reheated in a hot oven to maintain texture. Leftover beef can be stored separately in the refrigerator and enjoyed for several days.
